Air Force Academy Chapel Interior. Its altitude is normally given as 7258 feet 2212 m above sea-level which is the elevation of the cadet area. The SOM Architects were commissioned to design the master plan for the United States Air Force Academy campus Colorado in 1954 and completed in 1963.
Construction was accomplished by Robert E. AECOM was hired by the Academy and USAF to design repairs to the 50-year-old construction. The Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel was designed by Walter Netsch of Skidmore Owings and Merrill SOM in 1955 and was completed in 1962.
The striking building features a succession of 17 glass and aluminum spires each composed of 100 tetrahedrons enclosing the upper level.
